GAMENET Wireplay, then. BT's dedicated on-line games network has been revamped and relaunched. The client software is now Windows 95-compatible, and, ye gods, you can even play Quake on it. BT has improved lag times immensely and upped the level of gaming support so that now any network-compatible game should work with Wireplay. When it works, it works well - we've had some excellent multi-player bouts of Quake with little noticeable lag. The new Windows 95 version is much less hassle overall than its predecessor and includes the QuakeWorld server. Install the software and give Wireplay a go. You have nothing to lose but 2.5 pence a minute (or 6 pence a minute if you're stupid enough to use it during the day). Ed Ricketts looks at Wireplay in detail on page 104 of the magazine. For those of you who think you're hard enough, at the beginning of February, .net's gibmeister James Brown and the rest of the .net team will be on Wireplay to take on (and whoop!- James) all comers in a series of deathmatches. Prizes for anyone good enough to beat him. Keep watching http://www.netmag.co.uk/ for more details. Wireplay Software Windows 95 http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ The client for BT's on-line gaming network
